Politicians lie all the time. Some Republicans thought he didn't mean a lot of the things he said and was saying it just to appease some of the far right voters

I bet they'll do something about this and not when it's a human. He'll likely be fired or charged.

I don't encourage violence or any kind but the kids let him off rather too easily.

The solution isn't elections. Elections will only postpone it till next time.
The checks and balances need to be made more robust perhaps by amending the constitution
