Chicago lawyer, but the boring kind. Sports fan. Experiencing a social media relapse. Should be obvious, but nothing here is legal advice

Trump has done more to establish a unitary executive than all the judges or legal scholars in the world could ever do.

And Trump has done more to discredit and expose the unitary executive theory as lawless authoritarianism than any judge or legal scholar could ever do.

New Axios piece on the return of student loan defaults goes to pains to make sure you know the situation isn't the fault of the Trump admin, and calls out Biden continuing forbearance efforts as a cause.

Can't wait to find out who was president in 2020 when the program actually was put in place!

Wouldn't it be faster and more accurate to just say "make it easier to commit war crimes?" I'm not even being rhetorical here.

Getting rid of the lawyers does not make you "less restricted by the laws." That's now how any of this works
NEW: Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is expected to start a sweeping overhaul of military lawyers to make the US less restricted by the laws of armed conflict, per ppl familiar @theguardian.com exclusive www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

A tremendous amount of modern conservatism is catering to the sentiment “I should be able to act like an asshole without anyone calling me an asshole”
CORRECT. Beware of anyone who says that naming sexism/vocally opposing it is somehow a problem. They want to push it back into the shadows. Resist that mandate. If they’re uncomfortable, that’s not your issue to manage.
No one really believes there is. The grievance is that the second wave’s advances have been too persistent, and that women have become more emboldened to discuss sexism in their lives. The Republicans want to reverse this, making sexism more potent and its pain less speakable. That’s their appeal.

Dudes, men, fellas, please step up and guide the young men near you.

You are the only ones that have a decent chance of being heard, because you’re considered full people worth listening to.

If another young fella says something that dehumanizes people, you gotta be the ones to say something

This is an under-appreciated reason to have a full time, professional state legislature. A gig that ties you up for 3 months every year and only pays $10,000 prevents you from having a full time job. Only rich people can afford to do that.
"Just 116 of the nearly 7,400 state legislators in the United States come from working-class backgrounds, according to a biennial study conducted by Nicholas Carnes and Eric Hansen, political scientists at Duke University and Loyola University Chicago."
Working-class people rarely have a seat ‘at the legislative table...
In her first few months as a Minnesota state legislator in 2021, state Rep. Kaela Berg often wondered: “What the hell am I doing here?” A single mother and flight attendant without a college degree or...

Same energy as Rodgers saying he was "immunized from COVID," but not meaning the vaccines...the "what happened at Sandy Hook" language leaves open that the real tragedy and loss of life was all a false flag or some such BS. Hopefully this is just a drunk publicist doing a bad job, but no trust here.

I want this to end up as Rodgers just so that the Jets can cement first place in the "Our QB Situation Is Forever Cursed" power rankings
This set of potential RFK Jr. VP nominees from a betting site is hilarious: Kanye, Rob Schneider, Alex Jones, Charlie Sheen...

Along these lines, ChatGPT suggests Edward Snowden, Joe Rogan, Glenn Greenwald, and Bret Weinstein. Frighteningly plausible.
