Orthodox convert on a journey to Rome.
I've ordered the book by Brother Lawrence. I'm a simple man, when the Pope says something is worth reading, I read it.

Bought a set of rosary beads last week. To an Orthodox used to saying the Jesus Prayer, the rosary seems very complicated. Will do my best.

(I know I’ll canonically be Eastern Catholic, but I see nothing wrong with making room for some Latin devotions in my prayer life.)

This is horrific. When a person goes to a priest for help and this happens, it should be an automatic entry into Heaven. Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on the victim and his family, and give him rest among the saints. 🙏

Je ne savais pas qu'il y avait un cardinal qui s'appelait 23. 😉

My path to Christ included time spent as a Bahá’í. While I ultimately left, I can testify that the Bahá’ís I knew were good people who genuinely wanted to make the world a better place. They don’t deserve what the Iranian government has done to them, and is doing to them.

I know the Eastern version in both English and Greek:
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages, Amen.

At a time when it seems like the world has lost its mind, I’m finding a great deal of hope and inspiration from the Catholic accounts I follow here. Thank you and God bless you all. 🙏✝️

Today is the feast day of St. Matthias; I am struck by the parallels between the Apostles electing St. Matthias to join their number after Judas' betrayal, and how the College of Cardinals elect the new Pope after the death of an incumbent - and the work of the Holy Spirit in both.

I met Pope Leo XIV in Rome when he was Prior General of the Augustinians. I found him to be a warm, kind-hearted, peaceful man. The church is in good hands!
