Chunky gypsum crystals near Alicante, Spain. A fascinating area where Triassic sands have been thrust up through younger Cretaceous limestone and overlain by Miocene lacustrine muds. All run through with gypsum veins and evaporites. #geology

Lots of fun little critters. Foraminifera, algae and bryozoa found in a reef from the early Eocene (~50 million years ago). #thinsectionthursday
