Triste é não ter um verso maior que o literário.
Though I remember vaguely seeing some creeps tweeting conspiracies to kill AI researchers, back in the PAUSE AI thing.

I don't know if this is connected with the fact that I came of age in this moment, but I never experienced this level of doomer rhetoric with technology. And this is extremely disoriented and resistence is difficult. I'm surprised that we still don't see someone bomb a data center.

Yeah, I thought the same. Every time a new generative image or video model is launched, you're drowned by people ''Hollywood/game industry are cooked'' and then you watch it and it Charlie Kirk saying some tiktok trend.

Estou confuso: quando a pessoa que você cita sobre viver juntos, ele se refere as pessoas de opiniões distintas sobre IA ou sobre pessoas e as IAs?

Doesn't this lesson fit better with her heideggerian heritage?

I think that a kantian perspective has resources to make the point that our experience cannot be the ''experience'' of a stochastic parrot. For one thing, our minds are normative (aspire to). Stochastics Parrot sounds a lot like Hume.

I know of a professor who teach calc iii and covers this theorem. Also: brouwer theorem, homology and homotopy. Great stuff, but really demand for cal iii class.

As a Certified Philosopher of AI™️©️, it is my Expert Opinion that the median anti-AI take on bluesky is actually completely correct

what is the median anti-AI take on bluesky?

I think what Moran does in that book is in the same vein as what Anscombe's Intention, when she recovered, as she put it, the concept of practical knowledge (in action); an idea that was " forgotten " by modern philosophy in its excessive ''contemplative'' concept of knowledge.

I think that there's a persuasive literature about our access to our own mind that restrains big conclusions about our skepticism about (alienation from) introspection. One book that made up my mind about it is Authority & Estrangement.

@himself.bsky.social ky.social I'm anxious about your perspective on it. :)

And the comparison with Wikipedia looks a little too easy for the argument. What cultural technology perspective wants to articulate is better captured with analogies with bureaucracy and markets (in the surprise compression of information that LLM display)-- not wikipedia.

Looks cool. But I don't quite get what the contrast with the blurry version of the web/ deblur it is supposed to mean.

Legal. Conheço Nova Friburgo. Sou de Niterói. Fiz UFF.

I suspect that LessWrong and the Oxford bros have more to do with shaping this worldview than anyone or anything else. Their vocabulary is from the rats and Nick Bostrom's texts. For one thing, Hofstadter's books have a primary focus on symbolic AI.
