Teaching a course you've taught before is amazing. I'm getting all my course prep for the week done by Monday afternoon. So much time for research* this semester

How awful that AI has ruined what was otherwise a perfect place with no problems or annoyances whatsoever (the Daily Nous comments section)

"I used to be wrong about this matter of empirical fact, but now I am right" buddy, all apparent knowledge of the world as it seems is merely sophistry and illusion

The opening battle sequence of Persona 3 Reload remains undefeated. Main dude sees a shadow knock down some girl, grabs her gun, decides to shoot himself, and then somehow summons a persona. Write that scene better. You can't. Peak storytelling

Just got an email from a colleague with a link to Thi's thread on teaching that started with "Not sure if you're on Bluesky, but..." Buddy, I was on Bluesky while your email came in

Waking up early. The Europeans are playing on bluesky. They seem so innocent and free. But their time will pass. We will start yelling at each other about something American soon enough.

My paper on historical (anti-)realism is now available in EarlyView on @histandtheojrnl.bsky.social's website. It's my attempt at mapping the conceptual space in what I see as a deeply confused landscape, rife for unproductive polemics.

People have been asking me, a Known Sports Understander, to explain how IU was able to win the national championship. The explanation is simple, and applies to other sports as well:

God weighs up how many people have prayed for each team, and awards the victory to the team who loves Him more

Hatred of the French remains undefeated, hon hon hon
i actually don't really think it makes sense to hate all of the citizens of a country because of the geopolitical policies of their country, which they almost certainly have no say in. you're supposed to hate them on the basis of crude cultural stereotypes
