I have been surprised at the lack of comment on the festering MN welfare fraud situation. I guess everyone on Bluesky must think welfare fraud is OK so long as it happens in a lib Dem state? I am sure not OK with it as that means that the needy will not receive the benefits of those Federal $.

On January 6, 1912, New Mexico became the 47th state in the U.S. New Mexicans know our history goes back hundreds and thousands of years though, predating most other states. Happy Birthday to the best state in the country! #NewMexico

So, this morning we had a very non- New Mexico weather event- low fog in the valleys below our house. Most unusual for here given our high-desert very dry climate. We had rain sometime during part of last night and voila, low fog in the morning. At least we finally go some moisture!

December 2025 was the warmest on record for Albuquerque, 4.8º warmer than the next warmest December (1950). It stands out most when you compare it to previous Decembers and when you look at average temperatures over the year. It's startling. #NMwx

One of my New Year's Resolutions is to get back into photography in 2026. I have been busy with work in 2025 but I am planning to try to do more photo safaris here in NM in 2026. Here is a photo of a January sunrise over the Sangre de Cristo mountains from my house looking towards Santa Fe.

If you are reading this message, that means that neither of us were among the estimated 3.1 million Americans who died in 2025. That is the best news for us in an otherwise lacklustre year. I urge you to celebrate our good fortune tonight and every day in 2026. Let's hope our good luck holds!

After Trump took office a years ago,I said I would withhold my opinion on his policies for 1 year. Time is running out and so is my patience with some of his stupid policies and actions. The Mid-terms will be ugly for my beloved Republican party as people express them selves at the ballot box.

While Americans were about to enter into the Battle of the Bulge and likely face capture under harsh circumstances by the war-weary German enemy, others, already POWs, celebrated a lonely Christmas holiday, the last of the war, in camps across Europe. www.nationalww2museum.org/war/articles...
