Very grateful to Rob Meens for a positive review of my book in Tijdschrift voor Geschiedenis: www.aup-online.com/content/jour...

As the holidays are the time of nostalgic reminiscining, I thought I'd show some pictures of my last 'big' #wargaming project which I finished 10 years ago: a Carolingian army for the French #tabletop game SAGA, which still welcomes me with a look of reproach every time I visit home. 1/4

The site of the 'Petite Marquise' in #Echternach, where structures dated to the 10/11th c. were discovered in 2020, is now covered with panels tracing the town's medieval history & showing some of the archaeological finds. Hopefully, we'll hear more about the preservation project 'Epternacum' soon.

I had the wonderful opportunity today to show the students an original charter of Otto III, dated to 29 Sept. 992, at the University Library. The digitised version can be accessed here: digi.ub.uni-heidelberg.de/diglit/heidu...

1/ A while ago, I started to collect all my online bookmarks, bibliogr. tips from Twitter/Bluesky & some of the material I've been using for teaching in one file - which I'd like to share here in the hope that other (early) medievalists might find it useful:
