Update: I am now a freelancer! I left Reuters so that I could pursue new paths and projects and I will continue to freelance for them in the future. I am a professional photographer/videographer, I have a drone license, recent HET certs and I am also getting into the safety instructor space.

Intro: I'm a photojournalist with a background in newspapers before joining Reuters. I've covered small feature stories, national and international protest movements, climate change, breaking news, conflict and so many other things in between. I'll be posting my work here and on IG. #photojournalism

Can we credit photographers, please? It’s not just about what’s right, now it’s also about providing the public with an easy way to check for authenticity.

We don’t need anymore podcasts but part of me wants to create a rage-fueled one where it’s just me highlighting different every day journalists who ARE covering the story. It is so damaging to constantly bash “the media” without specifics. It drives me crazy.

DC: I’m out and about covering the federal/national guard occupation this week. Feel free to send me DMs if you see/hear anything. #freedc #dc #ice #feds

I did get a few photos of sandwich guy art outside of the Subway on 14th & U, THE spot of the infamous throw.
For anyone outside of DC: this art is everywhere. Photos (c) @leahmillis

Yo do you remember where this is at?

Nothing like a palisade peach.

Critical thinking skillz is a hill I will die on.

I can’t say definitively one way or the other but I can say that he often talks about never wanting to be near a warzone, like Ukraine. I would be very surprised if he would have agreed to something like that.
leahmillis.bsky.social
A rally can also be a protest but it’s not always a protest. It can also be a campaign rally, which is what that one was.
leahmillis.bsky.social
All I know is what I wrote. Don’t pull meaning from my words that isn’t there.
leahmillis.bsky.social
That’s how most politicians do it. A lot of theater. That doesn’t necessarily mean that the assassination attempt was also a set up. I can tell you that the photographers were not in on it if it was. I think people prefer the idea that someone is pulling the strings instead of the scariness of chaos

Dawn, every rally he has is a photo op. That’s what a rally is.
leahmillis.bsky.social
I know the photographers who were there, I have confirmed what I wrote in that thread. It’s not what I think, it’s what I know.

Another successful debunking campaign! I’m glad 8 people saw this, lol.

Comments on this post are limited so I’m going to speak here (where I’m sure nobody will see it). I’m a photojournalist, member of WHCA and I’ve covered Trump and his rallies for 3.5 yrs his first term and half of this year of second term. I can explain what you’re seeing here:
leahmillis.bsky.social
We are talking about professional photographers who have years of experience on this beat. Not a sexy or exciting explanation, but it is the factual truth. And yes, I confirmed with one of them that the mystery man was a wrangler. I verify. /end

Also, remember that the press pool travels with POTUS everywhere. They are used to seeing us there. But you better bet that if any of them had pushed the boundaries, got too close, it would have been a bad day for them.
leahmillis.bsky.social
I’ve talked to USSS agents about what would happen if all hell broke loose at a rally (we always have one agent assigned to us) and they have all been like our priority is the president. So what you’re seeing is all the agents prioritizing getting him to safety.
leahmillis.bsky.social
I can only speak on things I know and experiences I understand. It’s important to have critical thinking, which involves verifying. I have seen people wondering why they allowed the photogs to be there.
leahmillis.bsky.social
But also don’t forget: all of them just survived a shooting. He is prob running on muscle memory & adrenaline. The photogs knew where to go bc they are highly experienced. Evan Vucci (the guy who took THE photo) has experience in warzones, for example.

You might have assumed that the thing causing his jacket to stick up is a gun, it’s not, it’s his radio. What you’re seeing in this video is him actually holding onto them bc his job is to keep them at a certain distance from POTUS.
