I just watched the latest review of my project after putting it off (I usually get a little nervous after a review gets done!) One point brought up was the time put in to hand draw the lettering and yes, each poem heading was drawn with numerous iterations like these to get to the final design.

This is an early concept I used for the poem "Interare." The idea was to surround the word "are" so that it was inside the confines of the second part of the word. I was afraid the bottom part would read "IareR.

A rough sketch of a title for my poem. The idea was to connect all the characters together so that it would go with the theme of moving up in age. I ended up dropping this concept so I could go with big chunkier type that matched the other titles in my work.

I've been working on heading graphics for my introduction blurb page for over a year. I didn't expect it to take so long but for some reason the graphic with positive type on the top, negative see through type on bottom messed with my mind a little bit!

I've always thought of black as #masculine. When making a brief mention of it in a poem someone asked about it. He pointed out that blue was the social construct #BoyColor. This made me realize that the story would be even more effective if it showed these two colors in conjunction. #BlackPoem

I've been working hard on #PoemHeadings for each of my #poems. Today I've basically drew the last one!

This poem was about a the #flood of #students that pour down the hill after school lets out. The same year I wrote it I saw the above poster. My version had #Alliteration with the letters "Spi."

I love these ads I found on eBay that market sweats primarily by how stylish they are. "Dressed To Kill" and "Our Image Follows Us Everywhere."

I wonder why it took companies so long to sell them from this perspective? Prior eras just touted their sports performance advantages as far as I can tell.

I've been working on a story about when I needed help getting gum out of my hair. The poem took a couple days to come together but I made the page in about a day. That surprised me a little, but I guess at this point when I have many of the basic elements ready to go things move fast!

I wrote this reply to a video which compared how AI summarized a poem to how an English teacher would. For a while now I've had this idea that the struggle I put into a poem is a way that I honor the person I am writing about. It just seems that relying on AI makes the sentiment less meaningful.

I go to the field on weekends to shoot hoops. This week there were some nice cloud formations off in the background. I didn't really notice them until reviewing the video. Sometimes soccer balls fly off on to my court. Other days soccer players will play basketball with me. #EcksteinMiddleSchool 🦅

A nice view of the shadows I see when stopping by school on sunny mornings. There are usually other teams playing on the field while the basketball courts are open for practice.

I went to shoot hoops during the nice weather in Seattle this week. It is now spring break so the only people there are the construction workers putting in new windows.

I also ran some track and found an abandoned soccer ball to try a few shots. I'm thankful to get in real exercise this week.

A poem that looks into the teachings of the #Inter-Being. From the writings of #ThichNhatHanh it helped me understand emptiness in a way I could easily wrap my mind around.

As this crossing of our paths was not in grade-school’s teach
or while finding our grownup selves in the study of high
it was in the middle while our faces spouted hairs like a peach
our names even had the same #SoulEnergy#Kip and #Kai

Intro to #BlackPoem

When all color is not there
we just don't pay enough mind to this phenomenal occurrence.
It has an absence of hue a characteristic so rare
these traits had no other coloration transference.

A #poem stylized to be like the #RideTheLightning album cover as the subject would often wear #Metallica, #Megadeth and #GrungeBandShirts.

I really enjoyed drawing type in three dimensions, never had the chance to do that before. learningtowalkagain.life/Kai/ 🐦‍⬛ #BlackPoem #PoetryCommunity

This year I wrote a five page #BlackPoem. (learningtowalkagain.life/Black/) While doing so discovered the wonderful word #Adumbrate. Noticed it could be used as a noun and a verb and an adjective so I had to use it again on a later page! 🐈‍⬛ #Black

My latest body of work that focuses on my growing up years. I hadn't realized how much content was there on this subject until I approached this year's Poetry Month!
