Rise of Skywalker, but it's so bad that the title is forgotten.

Best to think of Star Wars as two trilogies and a couplet (or two trilogies and a sequel, but Ep. 8 is nowhere as bad as 9).

I once asked a new co-worker who had just moved to town where he lived. He couldn't describe it. I asked how he got home. He said he plugged his address into GPS. I asked what happened if he lost his phone. He was literally dumbfounded.

The next week we talked and he had figured out where he lived.

The "extra" justices can serve as replacement justices on the panel when a justice is conflicted, Circuit Justices, special masters, retain membership on votes related to Court Rules and Cert. Petitions. All of this is statutory. Can be implemented by Constitutional Amendment too.

Suggestion--a new seat is created on October 1 in every odd year. A panel of the 11 most recently-appointed, non-conflicted justices hear every case. Congress adopts an enforceable ethics code.

And permanently alter the makeup and appointments. A war of expansion won't do the trick; we need a new system that keeps the Court from becoming a political tool and hot potato.

How does @mlb.com allow this? They own competing teams. Can the Dodgers buy the Angels? (Literally; people want to know. It would solve some problems.)

@kenwhite.bsky.social How is this not an anti-trust violation? They literally own multiple competing baseball teams.

The Times has managed to find a special way to suck and abuse its stature as the "Paper of Record." Its owners are very wealthy (though, I am not sure billionaires).

But to the Times' credit, it's purely in the news business (unlike CBS, ABC, NBC, Fox all in entertainment, and the Post).

Read the story--it's way worse. Almost makes me want to listen to the podcast itself. It sounds like an interview of a guy who would be overwhelmed if he was the assistant weekday manager of the Blockbuster in Bend, Oregon.

What happened could range from Gates on board to them highly suggesting to Vigliotta to rescind the offer and/or negotiate an exit agreement.

Will know if he's in the building Monday (and if he signs the anticipated petition for review in the Supreme Court the week after in the Voter ID cases_.

Unclear (but probable). That's a LONG time for this Council to spend on this person, given their history with him. But the City Council does not hire the City Attorney's staff. The City Attorney does. So reportable action was always unlikely.

I'm applying.

I don't know the details, and the cynic would say that the Fifth Circuit will reverse. But it's possible! This case is different from the weak California case, where the GOP/DOJ (same thing) are alleging any use of race is unconstitutional, essentially seeking to undo the Voting Rights Act.

Kevin Kiley introducing a bill to ban partisan gerrymandering at the national level and desperately trying to become a Reasonable Bipartisan after Newsom deleted his district shows how you *acutally* uphold norms btw: you impost costs for breaking them

Republicans get in line and then, when the seat is open, nominate crazy conservatives.

Democrats quit the party and don't participate in the primary, then complain about the nominee and boycott the General Election.
