Out After Dark With Late-Night Workers and Zohran Mamdani
New York City socialist mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani recently spent the night reaching out to workers in Queens who keep the city moving after most New Yorkers are asleep. We tagged along.

The calls to action are beginning on utility shutoffs. I am asking people for shareable resources; a lot of impromptu messages so far. The key, for those of you who can act without details, is to call the governor and the chair of your state PSC/PUC and ask them to ban shutoffs, just like 2020.

Cuomo's reputation for "competence" is a totally imaginary media creation, designed to dupe liberals in a blue area into electing a conservative. His governorship was a series of embarrassing fuckups! Over and over! Didn't matter because media understood alternative to Cuomo would be a progressive
New York City’s campaign finance regulators rejected mayoral front-runner Andrew Cuomo’s request for around $2.5 million in public matching funds Tuesday, an embarrassing glitch for a bid predicated on experience and competence.

Today on Volts: if the market won't build clean energy fast enough, should the state step in? Advocates believe so, and they convinced the NY legislature, which passed a public-power law over a year ago. How's that law doing? And how's the larger public-power push? We get into it.
