I’ve gotten some quotes/replies with call your reps/petition stuff that doesn’t super do it for me personally. I like providing direct support to neighbors and organizing team lifts. But you should find your thing that energizes you, and if that’s asking Dick Durbin to be a goddamn human, do it.

If you’re particularly despairing tonight, remember that you can always choose to show up tomorrow and help people. Narrow your capacity for concern to a specific person or place through volunteering. It feels good. Call your local school or aldercritter’s office to ask about opportunities.

Part of why it’s so important to show up now! Organizing is work and the fascists are counting on organizers burning out, running out of juice. If we can take one small thing, it’s a moment for them to rest and recharge and see their efforts are working. Be the movement’s backup batteries.

Breaking Albany Park news: a bakery selling macarons & cheesecake has opened on the NE corner of Montrose & Kimball. I haven't tried any yet. They opened Sunday, are still figuring out the hours.
