The great thing about pastels as a medium is that you can work from dark to light, which is what I‘m usually doing. Of course there‘s back and forth, because the other way is also possible. It feels a bit like sculpting on paper, and you are right, placing the highlights is very effective ☺️

It only took me 6 months but I finally finished this more detailed version of my previous study of Adar from The Rings of Power (S2).

Oh I‘m so glad you got that vibe! 🖤 The darkness vs. light symbolism is so important for Adar‘s narrative, but for his death especially. I think he finds out in the end that he doesn’t need neither ring nor crown, he has light and shadow enough in himself, in just the right amount 🥺
