Expenses I incur as a writer and zinester: website hosting, PO box renting for mailing zines, postage stamps, media mail shipping for larger zines, cover design commissions, printing costs, and probably more things than I can remember. Paypal, Stripe, and Payhip take a cut. Selfpubbing is expensive.

TBH all that said, I don't hire editors for my own fiction lol. It's mainly because I can't afford it. I actually lose money on my fiction because hosting a website costs way more than I bring in from tips and zine sales. Someday.....

The things I catch as an editor are inevitable mistakes that happen because the human brain is fallible. Beyond grammar, I also catch things like character names being spelled inconsistently, continuity errors, game-breaking rules issues, and more. You don't want those in print. I'm here to help.

"Editors are the enemy" is such a weak stance, and I say this as a writer as well as an editor. Sure, there are hacks in every profession. But a good editor's primary job is to save you from embarrassing yourself. Editors are looking out for you.

An actual hot take: Too many authors are afraid of editors watering down their voice or whatever and not afraid enough of editors letting you put any old slop on the page.

We have neopronoun users for sure but I don't know of any NPCs that use it/its specifically. I believe both Pathfinder Society and Starfinder Society have had characters with either neopronouns or multiple pronouns.

gentle reminder that dragons should not be called "it" because they are sapient beings with genders (smile emoji)
