I knew someone - probably plenty of someones - would have this take. A zillion crime shows portray the impact on a victim's family. Part of the point of Adolescence is showing the impact on the killer's family. Stunning that this goes over people's heads. Anyway, episode 4 absolutely gutted me.

5) Getting to be on a board of advisors for a foundation created in my dearest Sisterfriend's name and the related joyful task of giving out money to incredibly deserving organizations.

I'd say these are my “professional” highlights but I don’t have a profession, which requires focus and steady, commensurate pay. 😂😭 Let’s say this is feedback on the labors of love (and yes, tbc, some of it paid) that made me feel most fulfilled this year... 1) This note from a reader... 🧵

There's persistent messaging that TV = bad, that it rots your brain, that it's "lesser than" books, etc. But I love TV as a medium. Sure, there's a spectrum of storytelling there. Even still, I think is important, creatively and culturally. Just putting that on record. ⚡

Free secondhand butcher block disassembled, sanded to hell and back (yet it was freezing out!), oiled up, reassembled, and drawer lined with contact paper. Writerfolk, I imagine you can relate to the satisfaction of physically tangible projects that have a clear beginning, middle, and end? 😂

Congratulations, Sara!! ✨ Peace and love back at you. Meanwhile, what should we do about the fact that we have the same cat and it has two families!? I'm steamed about the deception, but glad they have good taste. 😤😂

I don't celebrate Thanksgiving anymore (we do a family meal on a separate day that doesn't involve genocide, and strive to support indigenous-led orgs year-round) but this time of year does signal a hallowed tradition: The rewatching of Home for the Holidays. 👏✨ What are your holiday film go to's??

Came across some collage/found poems I made a few years back. Yup, I still make myself laugh. 😅 Main source was a etiquette/eugenics book from the late 1800's that found in the trash (where it belonged).

Yesterday we got a mini-split put in. Today I finish caulking, painting. Worth noting that we are 50 and 51 years old, have worked in the arts and trades for decades, and this was our only financial option as far as housing. Grateful to my mother whose backyard we'll be living in.

My husband is caretaker of a historic property from 1810. We've lived in the museum's servants quarters for the last 6 years. It has 1 very large kitchen that once served the mansion, 8 tiny rooms, 2 bathrooms. We're in process of moving to a 190 sq ft tiny house. Excited/anxious/inspired/daunted.
