low key feel like self help culture—not self improvement, but the "find your dream life" pseudo-religion stuff—has a very similar impact on your psyche as curating your life to be pretty for instagram. it just Does Something, and I don't think it's good

I find there's this really cruel kind of imposter syndrome, trying to be a writer when you grew up learning disabled. I was in my twenties before I was able to regularly identify spelling mistakes, and every writing community prior was focused on the mechanics as proof you were "good"
