…So I tried to capture the texture of moth wing scales & the speckled-ness of their colours using granulating pigments.

& I tried to include a mix of brightly coloured moths and more subtle, camouflage species.

Like the scalloped oak and nut-tree tussock (which is basically a tiny flying kitten)…

I was trying to catch something of the colours & textures & fuzziness of species that visit my garden. But when you love moths? It's hard to feel anything you make is a good enuf representation!

Also, no species is really one single colour…

So please, get pap smears on the reg. There are home kits now, too. Probably worth noting that doctors are still so freaking bad at pap smears that people actively avoid having them done... and that contributes to increases in poor cervical cancer outcomes.
