This happens every once in a while and it’s beside the point, but I always end up wondering, “Is that their spouse’s sibling, or their sibling’s spouse? And which is worse?”

“Somehow we still believe we’re the good guys.”

I mean, “or”?

So we’ve moved on from pretending that we’re all getting rich because other countries are paying these tariffs?

My sister got into bookbinding recently! She sent really cool blank diary-type books she made to me and my wife for Christmas this year!

Aha, I had a similar experience with Is This Thing On?, which I liked quite a bit, and then even more when I also saw in the credits that it was based on a real story.

I had a metal bed frame for years. The secret is: WD-40.

A+ marriage, no notes.

I think that’s probably broadly true, sure. Not always, but most of the time. Probably an unavoidable side effect of going for a lowest common denominator to maximize your audience in any piece of media, honestly, not just video games.

I’ve actually been heartened to see the indie game space grow to what it is now! Digital distribution has been huge, and it’s awesome to see games that almost certainly wouldn’t have existed before have a chance to get out there and do well or even become big hits. It’s not perfect, but that’s cool!

I mean it always comes down to capitalism as the problem. I think telling people they’re wrong, they’re actually not having fun playing AAA games is, ya know, dubious. But otherwise, yeah. I just had a very different read of what you shared, it didn’t read to me as waving away buying indie games.

In-n-Out is trash, their fries are a war crime, and they’re owned by religious weirdos.

Now, they’re not jammed into your face with ads constantly like the big blockbusters are (advertising again!), so you might have to actually, like, look at the movie times and spend a handful of seconds seeing what looks appealing. But then you can have what you say you want to have!

I saw about 50 movies that released last year! Only 4 of them were superhero movies (which I saw because I like them). See also: complains about sequels, remakes, reboots, etc. Those movies are there! You just have to go see them!
February 15, 2026 at 10:42 PM
I honestly have a similar feeling about movies. I see people complain all the time about Marvel/superhero movies. And I get that there are a bunch of them and they tend to dominate the box office. But there are so many movies that come out! Go see those and they’ll do better and they’ll make more!
February 15, 2026 at 10:42 PM
Hm, the way I interpret is that most people *aren’t* doing that. Like, they’re complaining that those games don’t exist, and if they did, it would fix the industry. But they do exist, in abundance! And the people that say they want them aren’t buying them!

San Diego is where you wanna go for Mexican food.

Yeah, that makes sense.

Come on up the Bay Area if you wanna see all the dumbass Cybertrucks.

Not a zoomer, but I always confuse Dave Eggers and Robert Eggers. I only realized they were different people around when Nosferaru came out. Not sure how this impacts your dataset.

Yeah, hey, I’m certainly not here to say “Advertising is Good, Actually”, I’ll tell you that damn much.
