The interior of Kristi Noem’s new billionaire-class luxury jet is complete with two bidets and a wet bar with a wine chiller. It will be purchased on our dime from the slush fund Congress approved in the One Big Beautiful Bill.
I’ve known one (1) “annoying vegan” guy (and oh boy, he was annoying. Also a crypto guy, just in case you’re wondering if you should be on my side.) I have known *too many to count* people who were obnoxious to the vegetarians/vegans in my life for simply existing and eating the way they do.
in an era when carnivore diet influencers are in charge of the american nuclear arsenal we have to admit the "annoying vegan" stereotype barely ever actually existed and the "all meat diet guy" is real, increasingly omnipresent, and way more annoying and inconvenient to actually be around

i mean this guy is right in the sense that the nazi regime demonstrated the logical end state of far-right politics and it was so obviously evil that it made being far-right almost universally socially unacceptable until the bulk of people who could remember it first-hand had died

what we can know from life is that if you say to people "would you like to have some ice-cream, or a bagful of shit" a non-zero number of people will vote for the bagful of shit because they think it's funny.
it is vitally important not to give them the opportunity to empty shit on the rest of us.

Territorial Hawaii ended up being strongly Republican-dominated, of course, which fifty years later ended up earning it statehood as a compromise deal for the admission of strongly Democratic Alaska.

always instructive to learn about what political facts seem eternal until they abruptly aren't
rob whittman has been a us congressman since 2007 and could've proposed a nationwide gerrymandering ban at any time. let's see what he had to say about this issue in 2017 www.wvtf.org/news/2017-07...

it's unbelievable to me that someone could actually be a trillionaire. i think most of us have trouble internalizing how much money that truly is. let me put it in simple terms for you: a trillion dollars is three million dollars

Fuck. I have nothing eloquent to say here, this just really fucking sucks. Dan was an amazing guy, and we were very lucky to be able to read his work. The world was a better place with him in it.
Rest in peace to one of the great bloggers and the de facto mayor of Philadelphia. It was my honor and pleasure to work with him. defector.com/dan-mcquade-...

People also apparently want this for movies, which is why trailers are full of spoilers and are basically just a 2-minute long version of the movie now.
I’ve seen a worrying number of readers angry when a book is not exactly what they expected, which is a way to trap yourself permanently.

RIP to the Circus Drive-In. Just really good diner food, in a unique, iconic atmosphere for 60+ years until some assholes bought it and tore it down to put up a fuckin’ strip mall.

By now, asteroid 2026 Dreadstone has impacted the Indian Ocean, sparking a firestorm not seen on this planet since the K–Pg Extinction Event. Most people just want to be with their families. Here are three ways effective business leaders can leverage targeted KPIs to turn tragedy 😔 into triumph 💪
the weirdest thing to me about this line of argument is that the signifiers that might be read as a "ferocious cultural revolution" -- the big metoo wave, geting rid of racist corporate logos, tearing down confederate statues -- all happened during the first trump administration!
what the hell is this revisionist nonsense? This *did not happen*—except in the minds of the far-right. You're buying their bad faith bullshit. MAGA called for and now is building a white ethnostate b/c *they are white nationalists*. That's what they do. FFS
