if possible could you recommend any sources that specifically substantiate the cathars being egalitarian? IIRC women could be clergy; is that the extent of what you meant or is there more? I am very interested in that topic and would love to learn more

all the other stuff in these posts aside, you don't think using LLMs is a contributing factor to people's brains turning to jello?

If it is used as a substitute for independent reading, writing, or thinking, isn't that turning brains to jello via atrophy?

this vaguely reminds me of a Dewey quote, "there is perhaps no better definition of culture than that it is the capacity for constantly expanding the range and accuracy of one’s perception of meanings."

There seems to be a non-sequitur between "reading comprehension isn't a skill" and "you don't get better at it by practicing the mechanisms of reading".

You posit a way to get better at reading comprehension, and you do so in terms that sound very akin to calling it a skill. So is it a skill?

this strikes me as an overgeneralization about artists; why do you associate suburb culture with artists?

Do you mean you “like” it ironically? as in, (1) you’re skeptical it requires those questions? (2) you believe it does require that but it’s funny that it does?
Or do you unironically just appreciate that it’s complex?

it's no more common for men to be mocked and gender-policed if they do that than it is for women to be mocked and gender-policed if they do it in career path; I don't disagree that men do experience the mocking and gender policing it's just that the framing makes it sound like it's mostly male issue

While I agree that nothing they say should be read as if it had a greater claim to truth, I think your framing is overlooking that the ideas presented through these works are still inordinately profound and rich with things to be learned, though they may not be "true" / "what we should believe".

okay, yes, I 100% agree, but the presentation clearly indicates that the writers didn't intend for this interpretation.
embarrassing as it is, I am sure their thought process was that this counted as a meaningful, believable democratizing move, indicative of future democratization.

i agree that's the far greater tendency, but the post you're replying to was made in light of the replies to the quote-tweeted thread, and the latter is not participating in the tendency you're describing.

also linking a reply I made to this same post just to add to your point
getting upset and voicing that upset in cruel ways are also very different things.

It's one thing to feel a certain way about others being positive regarding the U.S., but quite another to engage in harassing marginalized people over it.
