Something that started with the idea of a "mage" and went with it. Liked the sketch so much that decided to put a lot more effort into it, haha. Was quite a challenge with the multiple light sources. Hope you like it!
Also decided to add this into my worldbuilding project so she's a Bohiym nomad :)
Digital painting of a lady Mage with clothing inspired by the Romani people, casting a magical shield. She's standing on top of a cliff of a Fjord-ish landscape. Lore: "The Bohiym nomads are not usually regarded as magic users and thus thought to be easy prey for their wealth. To the outside the Bohiym look like travelling dancers and musicians. Their simple nomadic life helps them keep a lot of their earnings and usually repurpose them into jewellery that they wear on their body."

Study from this morning. Almost didn't want to share this but kept on working on it and experimenting with the blend tool. Lately been trying to simplify as much as I can and be more "artistic" rather than just copying what I see. Still need to improve more on the artistic and experimental side. 🙂

Maybe a bit rare use case but if you copy a part of your painting and it didn't land on the right spot you can use the "difference" or "substract" blending mode to align the image back. It's correct when the area has turned fully or mostly black then flip it back to normal mode.
Example of using difference blending mode when aligning images in the rare case when copy paste has fumbled or refuses to paste on the right spot. Or perhaps when you need to copy paste an earlier version that was painted in smaller size. In that case it won't be perfectly black but you can get it mostly there. Hope this helps someone!

Had a pretty short session so not that much progress. Kinda liking the swirley's for the impact areas for the force field! Magic effects are always fun but hard to do to make them look believable :)

The year didn't quite go as planned. Having been laid off from VFX as the company went under I took it as a sign to fully focus in art and illustration.
No luck getting commissions or job yet but been having good feedback nonetheless.

Trying to simplify more and more, keep brush strokes minimal and expressiveness / painterly-ness high.
