The gen ed teacher is frustrated that they can't operate at an independence level expected for their age and the special education teacher is basically saying they're too high-functioning for their class.

There's basically no solution for when your kid scores academically too high for resource classes but has severe ADHD enough that they need constant redirection to function in a gen ed class but has no destructive behaviors so the school says they don't qualify for a behavioral aide.

I suspect what has happened is there is some sort of software glitch between the loan processing company that we make payments through and the university that has contracted with this company to pay off balances for financial aid students but that sounds like a them problem and not a me problem.

The bills have been paid straight from my checking account into the payment plan through the exact same website that I used to make all the payments last year so yeah I am going to need you to explain to me why exactly you say there is a hold on my kid's account.

My stepkid's college financial services office told her she does not have an active payment plan which is news to me because I have been paying into this payment plan so now I have to drive up there tomorrow and do my best white woman "I would like to speak to your supervisor" routine.

Yes because obviously everything in the state where I grew up is normal and good and easily distinguished but everything in the state I moved to as an adult is ridiculous and strange and should be changed to accommodate me. Thus my appeal to the grand authority of place names.

I have lived in Washington state for five years now and still get mad when I remember that Snohomish and Skokomish are two different places. Ridiculous. Am going to appeal to the grand authority of place names to rename one of them.

My statement on the two year anniversary of October 7, 2023.

“Two years ago today, Hamas carried out a horrific war crime, killing more than 1,100 Israelis and kidnapping 250 more. I mourn these lives and pray for the safe return of every hostage still held and for every family whose lives were torn apart by these atrocities.

In the aftermath of that day, Prime Minister Netanyahu and the Israeli government launched a genocidal war: adeath toll that now far exceeds 67,000; with the Israeli military bombing homes, hospitals, and schools into rubble. Every day in Gaza has become a place where grief itself has run out of language. I mourn these lives and pray for the families that have been shattered. Our government has been complicit through it all.

The Salem Witch Trials are an interesting societal phenomenon because those girls only had as much power as their society allowed them. If society suddenly gives a bunch of disenfranchised children the power to decide who lives or dies, what happens? Salem, I guess.

Sometimes I see the Salem Witch Trials described as a purely cynical land grab and I feel like these people have never met a group of middle school girls who just realized they have the power to be evil little shits who then proceed to rapidly get in over their heads.

And also I think it's important to remember that there is no actual evidence that the real John Proctor did anything that was unusual or wrong according to the morals of the society that he lived in.

Also important to remember that Miller made up the Abigail-John Proctor plot! The real Abigail Williams was 11 or 12 and there is no evidence that John Proctor had any sort of sexual relationship with her. Ironically enough, the person who tarnished the name John Proctor the most was Arthur Miller.

I think it's fair to villainize a character who helped send innocent people to their deaths, actually.

The fictionalized main characters of The Crucible are both villains, John bears responsibility for helping to turn Abigail into what she is, but she is still responsible for her own actions.

Yesterday a TikTok came across my feed about how boomer parents never spent time with their kids or did anything and sorry, can't relate, my pet peeve as a kid was that my dad was always finding some random small town event a 45 minute car drive away to drag us to.
