Agreed! It's actually much more interesting writing (to me) with that taken into account than if it had been had been written differently.

Oh, I'd absolutely agree! Even if they feel bad about what they did, and I'm sure they do, the way they went about it felt super selfish. That tracks with how some folks IRL can be in early recovery (I say this without hate, recovery is a process), but still hard to watch.

I feel like it was on purpose, bc it gels with the character still very much being in their own head and not *actually* out of the addiction-selfish-mode. Which is super accurate for early recovery, tbh. It's possible I give the show too much credit, but it felt purposeful in that sense.

I was actually speaking out loud to my screen, lol. "This is not the time, dude. No, it's not about you right now, dude. No really, right now needs to not be about you dude, you really need to stop. I get what you're trying to do, but this isn't okay."

Thank you for letting me vent, lol. To me, waving the scene off as "Oh, they're doing the Amends thing, that makes sense, good for them!" actually misses some really interesting character stuff going on *because* it's not actually being done in a good way. There's interesting layers here!

(Being more specific would definitely veer into spoiler territory so I won't. But I have specific thoughts about WHY the thing is being done in an inappropriate and inconsiderate manner, considering the situation and the wording of the thing.)

That's my thing. Show being accurate, yes. Character doing the thing in an appropriate and considerate way, no.

I think the show IS accurately showing how some people *go about* trying to make amends. Plenty of people do accidentally make it all about themselves and their need to confess and receive forgiveness w/o thinking about how the conversation might affect the other person or if it's a good time.

Update tho: Coworker also texted the business and we just got a call back. We did successfully find the humans who care for the kitty, and thank goodness we were able to get in touch that way. ❤️
