New AMS Statement: Dismantling NSF’s National Center for Atmospheric Research would weaken U.S. leadership in weather, water, and climate science, putting public safety at risk.

For more than 60 years, NSF NCAR has improved forecasts and early warnings that save lives. More: https://bit.ly/4q6eChn

I’ll be tuning out tonight. I doubt that I’ll miss an historical moment in doing so but I surely will miss an hysterical one or two. That’s a price I’m willing to pay in the interests of keeping my dinner in my tummy rather than the toilet.

Re Piggy’s sinking poll numbers, when a moronic demagogue finds his demagogic juice has run dry, all he has left are his delusions, his stubbornness and his stupidity.

Indiana is a *very* red state. Its 50-member senate consists of 40 Republicans and only 10 Democrats. In yesterday’s vote rebuffing Trump’s redistricting scheme, a majority of Republicans (21) joined all Democrats. The final vote was 31 to 19.

Today’s WaPo has a story with the following headline: “Indiana shows limits of Trump’s bully pulpit.” It would be more accurate if it said, “Indiana shows limits of Trump’s bullying.”

More and more Republicans are not listening to Trump. Case in point: Indiana Republicans in the state senate refused today to buckle under his intimidation threats. They overwhelmingly voted to reject the mid-decadal gerrymander he tried to force on them.

Kudos to Jay Kuo for pointing out the new home decorating trend in MAGA land.

Authoritarian regimes that last have some kind of raison d'être to justify themselves. It is typically ideological or based on some sort of trumped up “emergency.”

The Trump regime will not last because all it has is a cult leader who likes to play dictator, like a 10 year old boy playing soldier.

Republicans are going to win #TN07 by about 9 points. Which is 12 points less than the margin by which they won the district the last two House elections.

Like I mentioned, there are 117 Republicans who represent districts they'd lose if their races swung 12 points left.

Here's where they are:

When it comes to presidential timber, Senator Mark Kelly is a redwood.
November 28, 2025 at 6:05 AM
Senator Mark Kelly has more courage in his little finger than Trump has in his whole body. The Pentagon investigation of him, which Trump has ordered, will come to nothing, as did the vindictive prosecutions of Jim Comey and Tish James.

North Carolina is a swing state with a large Latino population. For Ice to target it in typically brutal fashion is politically beyond stupid. In next year’s election the NC GOP will get its clock cleaned and they will have deserved it.

I wanna invent time travel and then require every high school student to take a class called "All The Shit We Fixed Before You Got Here" where they tour smog-filled US cities, polio wards, pre-vaccine hospitals, buildings with no safety regulations, kids working in mines, etc.

/11 Trump is what he is: an increasingly demented jumble of personality disorders prone to barking out whatever angry stupid thing pops into his head. And he’s the “leader of the free world.”

But many politicians who took an oath to uphold the Constitution will echo his lawless dreck.

The turning point for Trump is in sight. He no longer stands “astride the world like a Colossus.” He is, instead, a lame duck, a whipped whining dog.

Australia's extensive solar power penetration makes so much energy that the government wants to offer free electricity at peak hours.

The push toward mid-decade redistricting, which Trump kicked off in Texas, is starting to look like Trump’s worst idea since the Liberation Day tariffs. It may take a while for the chickens to come home to roost, but come home they do.

Lindsey Graham said the following during the 2016 GOP primary campaign: “If we [Republicans] nominate Trump, we will be destroyed... and we will deserve it."

Remarkably prescient.

At no time in history has so much fame been lavished on someone so unworthy of it as has been done with the FOOL.
November 5, 2025 at 3:38 PM
Yesterday’s stunning Democratic blowout and Republican debacle can be tied around the neck of one person. From now on I’ll call him the Frenzied Old Orange Loser, or FOOL for short. Now I don’t have to say his cursed name anymore.
