"The party that leans upon the workers but serves the bourgeoisie, in the period of the greatest sharpening of the class struggle, cannot but sense the smells wafted from the waiting grave."
Leon Trotsky
"It has been a different picture in Britain and Europe".

Yep, it seems the Irish Times is definitely designating Britain/the UK as no longer European. Given that part of Ireland is still within the UK, it would therefore seem that this newspaper also regards Ireland as not European. Hilarious stuff

"To the UK and Europe".

When did the UK cease to be a European country? I missed that one. Is Ireland also not a European country if the UK isn't one? 😂

Well there's a surprise.

Distraction, deflection and hubris.

America might be for sale, but Greenland definitely isn't.

I had it on line 4 but went with something I thought was more likely. Good to get it in the end.

If you're for this kind of action by Trump's regime, you will have to agree with his comment that the America's are "our hemisphere". Deal with that kind of America if that's what you support.

"created Ireland’s first urban centre at Waterford in 914."

We really do need to update our understanding of our own island. Recent archaeological finds in Co. Wicklow show that a large urban area consisting of at least 600 houses predated the Vikings by thousands of years.

Actually, after Iraq, most Americans now know that their armed forces can't invade anywhere without eventually having to pul out, after having admitted that the whole thing was a big mistake. Really, you'd think they'd have learned some important stuff after Vietnam.

It's all to do with Venezuela's decision a few years ago to sell their oil in Chinese Yuan rather than American dollars. This set a completely unacceptable - in American eyes - precedent in a country in 'their' geopolitical sphere. Hence, the threat to Rodriguez to work to make change.

Financial goals such as getting your hands on oil or other resources often involve political moves. You're incredibly stupid to believe otherwise.

Well, in bad old Catholic Ireland, there was homelessness, just not nearly as much as there is today. However, the lack of homelessness in the 1970s or 1980s had absolutely nothing to do with Catholicism. So an article such as this that links the two is sad, revisionist, self-serving nonsense.
