all context aside the line “are you supportive of these onesies” is insane lmfao
Surreal moment just now

Bernie Sanders displays “Unvaxxed Unafraid” baby onesies sold by Children’s Health Defense, which RFK Jr founded.

“Are you supportive of these onesies,” Sanders thundered.

Every other social media app is owned by evil little freaks so this has to be the Big Tent website that welcomes everyone else. People who don't understand jokes. People who know it's a joke but still think it's Harmful. "To be fair," guys. Put up a statue of liberty here but it's on the computer

I really hope everyone understands what is going on with Elon and Wikipedia.

Wikipedia is one of our last remaining bastions of evidence-based consensus reality.

The MAGA narrative is fundamentally threatened by evidence-based fact, and Wikipedia is a repository of evidence-based fact.
This is ABSOLUTELY factual! Musk’s gesture WAS compared to a Nazi salute or a fascist salute. Musk DID deny any meaning behind the gesture. Musk’s argument appears to be with reality.

This matters. Not because I think Trump is capable of mercy or empathy towards these vulnerable groups. But because it is a public act of defiance.

Contrast that with all these other powerful people in this country signaling nothing but appeasement and obedience.
Rev. Mariann Edgar Budde to Trump: "I ask you to have mercy upon the people in our country who are scared now. There are gay, lesbian, and transgender people in Democratic, Republican, and independent families, some who fear for their lives ... and the vast majority of immigrants are not criminals"

Also: Elon himself isn’t giving missing context! I believe that most of these columnists aren’t neo Nazis but I’m just shocked at how much media protection Elon has

“It’s time to take seriously the possibility that it’s our new digital media system that’s the fundamental cause of it all – the poison that’s killing democracy. The true villains of modern history may be the social media overlords – Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg, above all…”
I wrote about why I think social media is killing democracy and electing fascists. Unfortunately the second half is paywalled, but you can read a lot of it! (And you can always just subscribe to Mehdi's site) zeteo.com/p/the-intern...

We don't know what Elon Musk meant with that hand gesture but we do know he's reinstated Hitler apologists on X, praised an extreme far-right German political party and endorsed the claim that Jews push "hatred against whites" www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2...
Antisemitism was rising online. Then Elon Musk’s X supercharged it.
Antisemitism has long festered on the internet, but the Israel-Gaza war and the loosening of content moderation on X have propelled it to unprecedented levels.

People getting more pleasure out of being mad online as opposed to celebrating with friends is kinda why *waves hands around* things aren’t great, period
Fanatical fans (I think that's redundant, but anyway...) on social media are the ragiest people around. I mean, his team won and instead of just enjoying it he has to run around screaming at people. Laughing is generally the best response. (Second best: blocking.)

When will we ever blame the climate
A series of planning failures, delayed evacuations and significant shortfalls in firefighting resources hampered efforts to limit the spread of the wildfires in Los Angeles. Here is a close look at how the disaster unfolded. nyti.ms/40tuzCG

What’s up with all these geomagnetic storms in the last year???
A geomagnetic storm could make the northern lights visible across the northern fringe of the U.S. on New Year’s Eve, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Another geomagnetic storm could make the lights visible again after sundown on New Year’s Day.

There have been 32 games this year where QBs had double digit carries.

Daniels' performance tonight leads *all* of those games in both success rate and rush yards over expected. Pretty damn impressive in a league with Allen, Jackson, Hurts et al.

Visionary reporting, NYT. How could this possibly be the case?
A movement by some Democratic voters to investigate the results of the 2024 presidential election mirrors a push by Republicans in 2020. No one in the Democratic Party leadership has embraced the claims, which have been refuted by election officials.

If the US has morals and withholds funding for Israel’s military and votes for a ceasefire in the UN and congress, Netanyahu and his goons will still do whatever they want. Is a war fought with white phosphorus and post-war Israeli occupation better than US weapons and international org occupation?
Last week, the Pentagon said the Israeli's "are not yet ready to launch a ground invasion with a plan that can work."

This week, the Biden admin repeatedly said there are no "red lines" or limitations on their support for Israel, and even floated joining a post-war occupation.

Insanity.
