French-Swedish UI game engine plumber, textile tangler (Fibraquarelle) and glassblower-in-training somehow stuck doing DIY public health. Ranter extraordinaire. Queer. No pronouns, else they/iel/hen.

Oops!
Yeah, it’s a good place! The plateau is interesting and suggests they do have good ventilation, just severely under-dimensioned. Acoustics aren’t the best though

It’s starting to feel downright malevolent. In most places you can’t get jabbed anymore even though the shots wane significantly over three to six months. Monitoring is gone or broken. Public info pages are all “You can go back to work”. How are we supposed to fight any of it with so few resources

So turns out the fuckos running public health in France CHANGED THEIR SMOOTHING MODEL TWO WEEKS AGO and do not provide the raw data so now comparing graphs looks all weird. Fuck’s sake
Lille covid wastewater graph until 2025-09-01. It shows two clear peaks at 3000. Lille covid wastewater graph until 2025-09-08. It still shows a first peak at 3000 and a second slightly above 3000. Lille covid wastewater graph for 2025-09-22. It is now a steady rise through two tiny bump at 2000, with the current peak at 5000. It looks like a completely different curve.

And now for the CO2 numbers!
They are… *drumroll*… well, less bad than Le Splendid, I’ll give them that, because that hit 4000+, but still very very unsafe
CO2 graph, going from about 500ppm before 20:00, to a solid 1300ppm at 21:00, to an alarming 2200ppm from about 21:45 to 22:30.
The graph is labeled “Fållan - Pendulum - 2025-10-08” because otherwise I’m not gonna remember what it is.

Very, very good concert and JESUS CHRIST am I glad there was a balcony because that crowd movement was terrifying enough seen from above

ALT BLK ERA needed a better sound engineer (voices were criminally low) but was fun and I’m glad they got to open for frikkin’ Pendulum, that’s a hell of spotlight

Shoutouts to the guy who’s clearly already a few beers in going “THAT’S A FUCKING COOL MASK, MAN”
(It’s a GVS Elipse and it looks pretty cool but most importantly it means that this concert has way lower odds of disabling me for life, which is VERY cool)

You will likely join the field with a specific idea of what you want to do, while not being able to get there from the start. Be open to changing your plans, especially if the less prestigious / underdog team you start with “by force” actually feels really good.
(Aka: UI is great)

It has been zero days since Parisian queers assumed the rest of the country cares more about their ridiculous infighting than about getting shit done locally (some of which is ridiculous infighting but LOCAL)

Solid read here but I wish it had a bit more historical context to put the whole mess into perspective. E.g. in France we had supermarkets issuing “revolving” credits over a decade ago, Klarna’s been on Kronofogden’s shitlist for at least five years for driving Swedish late teens to bankruptcy, etc

A functional government that cared about its citizens would do something to address this exploding problem (gift link)

BIG joy: am in Stockholm and I sure love this town so long as I don’t need to live in it
liasae.bsky.social
I keep forgetting how much BETTER Swedish supermarkets are. Quiet. Sensible shelving heights and logic. France could never and it sure does never

There’s a very DIY sign on the Arlanda grounds that says BRAND SLANG above a bunch of large flexible piping. What a glorious example of false friends that is: both words exist in Swedish and English but mean entirely different things

Chat is it bad when the explainer branch of Le Monde has a “So who’s currently in charge of the country” article

Celle de Lille n’est pas assez bien pour toi ? :p

Oh so we’ve gone from “no government” to “no PM” to “maybe we should dissolve Parliament again” to “former PM says we should call a presidential election” in… 36h?

If France explodes even more while I’m away on a semi-impulsive vacation and attempting to relax I *will* be annoyed

I had somehow not bought the (excellent, seriously) Risk of Rain soundtrack and not only is it PWYW but it also comes with sheet music??? chrischristodoulou.bandcamp.com/album/risk-o...

lots of people know Łink from what he did to promote alt text usage here. this tip about pretending you’re describing an image over the phone has been burned in my brain since i saw it
bluesky post from
@knilirabaj.bsky.social that says

It's pretty cool you're using that alt text accessibility feature. It's not cool that you're not really describing the image though. Nice and simple is a good start. Descriptive and accurate is the way to go. You'll get the hang of it. Try pretending you're describing the picture over the phone.

Well, if you ever want to get distracted in THAT way, I have resources 😁

Okay so the PM quit but he’s tasked with making a new government again but he doesn’t want to be PM and…
Do we live in a soap opera or something

So a small update on French politics for my English speaking followers the guy who had been charged with forming a government and came up with the same government than the previous government has quit this morning following the announcement of his government and is now in charge of forming a new one

Hey, conference types, lookee, you can actually breathe and talk through a mask and securing panels is very much feasible!
Wish that one was on this side of the ocean but oh well

Throwback to last weekend's @qgcon.bsky.social, where I got to moderate a discussion with a wonderful group of organisers.
A panel at QGCon called "Community, Organizing, and Solidarity" featuring four speakers and a moderator up on stage.
