Yesterday I saw two different video clips showing ice using a less than lethal weapon that looks like a sawed-off bazooka that shoots a big puff of orange colored powder or smoke. It seemed like a chemical irritant but far less potent than standard CS tear gas. Anyone know about this?

Thanks Jen. Even in the last few days there have been so many complaints about Hakeem not fighting hard enough. We can see now, and it really has been obvious the whole time that you can only fight with impact when objective conditions present the opportunity. He has managed this masterfully.
Credit should go in large part to Leader Jeffries who kept the focus on healthcare, maintained his nerve during the shutdown, and continued to make the case to voters even after Senate Democrats caved. Jeffries showed that the minority certainly has cards to play. open.substack.com/pub/contrari...

What do American oil companies want most right now? A modest increase in the availability of heavy sour crude so their excess refining capacity will not sit idle. What do they want the least? Any involvement whatsoever with extracting that oil out of the ground in Venezuela.
Perhaps Trump should have gotten them on board first? Also this is such a stupid idea and expensive

Beware the lies. Ice is doing a lot of what they call targeted vehicle stops. Elon musk's Mass data aggregation help them find immigrants with less than a green card who have a driver's license and a car. Armed with their license plate number they stop them on the way to work to avoid interference.

Perfectly articulated. She is one of the least trumpy senators, but she is making great use of Trump's favorite tactic of having an established record of being on both sides of any major issue. Ass coverage locked down tight.
BINGO from Janet Mills: My problem with Susan Collins is that she never does the right or hard thing the first time when it’s needed most – only when it serves her politically – and we always pay the price. Once again, she is a day late and a dollar short.

I've been somewhat surprised that no local law enforcement agency has tried to prosecute an ice crime yet. Clearly this is the one. There is no interpretation of that video that could possibly be construed as self-defense. There is probably cause a crime has been committed- it must be charged.
I've talked to Minneapolis DA Mary Moriarty several times, including a few months ago. Former public defender with no qualms about charging abusive cops. She has also been threatened by the Trump administration, is not seeking reelection, and doesn't back down.

Shit's about to get real.

Greenland is Trump’s favorite distraction trick that works every time.

He’s not going to seize Greenland. He’s not going to buy it. He’s going to keep using it to distract the media.

Every second of Greenland coverage is wasted time and a media win for Trump.

100% there had to be a treaty violation involved in there somewhere.
FYI:

In 1916 the U.S. signed an agreement for control of St. Thomas, St. John & St. Croix, known as the “Danish West Indies,” in exchange for $25 million & a declaration that the U.S. would “not object to the Danish Govt extending their political & economic interests to the whole of Greenland.

Dude, your Department of Justice was in charge when the election happened. Bill Barr took the unprecedented action of allowing his United States attorneys to open their own investigations into any suspected election violations. They were locked and loaded, on high alert and found nothing. Wily Dems.
Trump floats the idea of canceling future elections
Trump: "They have the worst policy. How we have to even run against these people -- I won't say cancel the election, they should cancel the election, because the fake news with say, 'He wants the elections canceled. He's a dictator.' They always call me a dictator. Nobody is worse than Obama."

1) Homicide bad
2) Homicide way the fuck down

Both true. One hopeful. One inflammatory and totally devoid of context.

Think of it Chris, they have only ever identified a grand total of six murders committed by illegal immigrants. That's not a cause for fear- it's a cause for celebration.

Imagine having part of your job description be defending Trump's honor.
Department of Interior says if you put a sticker over Trump's face on your national park entrance pass, the pass will be invalidated.
Meanwhile Trump's decision to put his face on the passes is being challenged in court
DOI cracks down on stickers covering Trump's face on national park passes
Park passes with protest stickers are facing new scrutiny.

Fully half the children in America have their childhood vaccines paid for by the vaccines for children program. The program only covers vaccines on the recommended list. The seven vaccines removed from the list will no longer be covered for children who are uninsured, underinsured, or on Medicaid.

All the people who obviously have Trump's dick in their butt trying to explain that of course it was their intention to have this dick in their butt because Who would know better where to put that dick in order to accomplish making America great again then the man who only he can fix it.
remarkable how yet again, Donald Trump has found a way to betray *everyone* who is foolish enough to trust him.
We are not getting the outcome that Rubio promised or that he promised himself. We are getting the worst possible outcome for everyone except perhaps 4 members of the PSUV ruling clique and a handful of Trump cronies.

Bingo. I don't believe any American Oil company will agree to work in Venezuela unless the United States government is all in for capital investment and security. Otherwise, why pay for new well heads and Pipelines in an environment where a barrel of oil is selling right at break-even price?
“One thing that works against it is the price of oil…In the environment we’re in, if you’re going to invest, do you put it in the Permian [Basin in the U.S.] or do you put it in Venezuela? That’s going to be a tough choice.”

Trump Wants to Unlock Venezuela’s Oil Reserves. A Huge Challenge Awaits.
The president wants to put Venezuela’s viscous crude into play. The problem is the world doesn’t have much appetite for more oil.

That's right Rachel, but Trump's so stupid he doesn't understand that Venezuela's peculiar type of heavy crude is only useful to a handful of Nations- Russia, China, Iran, India and Cuba. In a world of declining oil prices, Ven's expensive-to-process oil has limited value. This needs examination
I told you their goal was to bring resource extraction colonialism back. 👇

Given the Dynamics of the international oil Market right now, and the difficulty and expense of processing Venezuelan oil, and the expense of the massive quantities of specialized equipment needed to exploit those Reserves, there is no real Financial incentive for achieving Trump's stated goals.
January 3, 2026 at 6:01 PM
Look at the top line of the chart, which shows Venezuela having the largest Reserves but being the smallest exporter of oil. The single Factor limiting their exports is the need for specialized refining equipment to process Venezuela's unique type of heavy and extra heavy crude oil
Niall Stanage: To believe this is about drug smuggling, you have to ignore Trump’s pardon of the former Honduran president for drug smuggling. To believe it’s about Maduro’s democratic legitimacy, you have to believe Trump cares even slightly about democratic legitimacy. Alternatively:

Control of Venezuela's oil is a goal with limited utility for the United States. Venezuela has only heavy and extra heavy crude which require specialized equipment to process. It's more expensive to process. The only countries with any significant ability to do so are us, Russia, China, Iran, India.
