the French system works. Bernie was right. Not a cosplay marxist, am a wannabe Frenchie. Don't be a pzzzy who blocks ppl for the narcissism of minor differences.
Pinned
This place is not twitter in 2016. In that place ppl sometimes had substantial political discussions where they disagreed on some things and agreed on others and didn't block at the tiniest disagreement even when it was civil. Kinda hate it here
seems like not depending on the stock market for retirement would be a better system. Ie a stronger state social safety net could break this messed up cycle
it's a problem. Because CEOs are incentivized by stock market valuation and that valuation hinges on lower costs, more profit and all the people in power as well as many pension funds have money in the stock market which has bee doing so well because of these incentives. Perverse

The reason twitter Democrats would rather scold voters then win their votes is because most of them did fine under Trump.

They do not care about the people who struggle no matter who is president.

Democrats blaming Misogyny for the loss of Latino men to Trump I guess don't know that Mexico has a woman president and that Hillary Clinton won Latino men. Stop coping, start speaking to the working class

DOGE exists to help the extraction class disguise corruption, cronyism, and the brutal dismantling of consumer protection, labor rights, and the social safety net as as "innovative efficiency reforms"

and from everything I've seen the U.S. press is super keen to help support the illusion
I think journalists, policymakers and good govt types are struggling to understand DOGE because their mental model is that it is a government reform commission, operating like previous ones. Maybe. But it might be better to start thinking about it as a hostile takeover of the govt by oligarchs.

Corporatism is the dominant ideology of the media/political class, which bakes this ideology into news coverage & pretends it is objectivity, even though it's the opposite. More & more of the audience can now see this sleight of hand, which is why the media/political class faces a credibility crisis

Consider the possibility that social media exists to provide an understandably unhappy population the anesthetizing sensation of engagement and activism, but without any *real* human engagement or meaningful agency, which takes a lot more effort.

The 4 major potato companies agree to feed data into PotatoTrac.

“Using this aggregated pricing data, they have been able to coordinate prices…to artificially inflate the price by ensuring that no price competition takes place,” one lawsuit argues.
The Rise Of Big Potato
Allegations of price collusions among the potato cartel reveal the new, sophisticated methods food corporations are using to keep prices high.

This is the craziest most elitist take ever from a party that is supposed to represent the working class. Wtf are democrats even for if they don't support unions?
It’s time Dems start explaining to Unions that if they don’t vote for them, they’ll lose their support and they won’t get shit. It’s a two way street but you have to be explicit about where you’re going.

gee, will she listen if a woman says the same thing?
I’m not listening to the white men trying to tell me again that the two very qualified women weren’t good enough. The refusal of pundits to discuss white men and white women’s refusal to vote for a woman simply bc she is a woman makes their arguments disingenuous.
