Out with my elderly mum in London a year or two back, she took a tumble. Black cab stopped to check she was okay, then gave us a lift - gratis - to our destination. #HellholeLondon

They are genuinely great. Unique, in a packed genre.

A Lewis Griffin drinking gamr would result in multiple casualties. #Booksky

In the best PI tradition Griffin is constantly being set upon, beaten up and shot at. That has to do something to a man's mind, right? Quite apart from all the booze he's been tucking away. #Booksky

As so often with Sallis in this series (and elsewhere), there's more going on beneath the surface. I read it as a partial retelling of 'Black Hornet', making me question much of what Griffin has shared over the past 5 books. An impression that's only sharpened as I start reading the last... #Booksky

Oof. Their problem, not yours. Hope you're able to move on, make the most of your day.

Disorientating, too. There are a couple of sections where it's not clear who is speaking, and to whom; and whether it's 'real' or fictional (which is a preoccupation of the book and series). Joyce gets a couple of name checks, and I can see the similarities. #Booksky

I'm sorry you had a poor time with the film, but it did result in this thread, which I am fully behind and enjoying.

I'm pretty sure I visited the gallery in Derby years ago, and I liked what I saw. Very dramatic.
