It’s exactly the same thing. Something legal and innocuous is suddenly an existential threat. So your pat dismissal of the very real concerns about authoritarian overreach and ensuring governments don’t get the tools they need to do that is disproven.

The administration just issued a rule slashing foreign agricultural worker wages. And to justify it, in a public filing, Trump's Labor Department alleges that Trump's immigration enforcement has devastated the Ag workforce and caused a "risk of supply shock-induced food shortages."

I know there's a lot to keep up with but someone has ALREADY been killed by ICE in Chicago, its not a theoretical question, and folks are dying in ICE detention and being disappeared constantly, when you say "someone's gonna get killed" youre actually washing the blood from their hands 😘✌️

Before one is a pensioner one works which means almost everyone will have to be monitored by the government at some point. Your late entry into the scheme at its introduction is not relevant because it only happens once. Everyone thereafter would be affected.

effectively over 90% of the population will have to carry digital ID over the course of their lives. The supposed fact checkers did not in any way reduce the significance of this fact with their analysis. And in failing to do so, hid the danger. They should & must be called out.
