Strap yourselves in for a horror story for our times: A highly critical piece of the conditions and terms used to dress up #GAI as risk-free.

Tldr: an onslaught of marketing elevates technical terminology to ‘responsible’ associations.
Finally! 🤩 Our position piece: Against the Uncritical Adoption of 'AI' Technologies in Academia:

We unpick the tech industry’s marketing, hype, & harm; and we argue for safeguarding higher education, critical
thinking, expertise, academic freedom, & scientific integrity.

"AI slop as being the aesthetic for fascist posting" theory well supported here
Andrew Cuomo’s campaign just posted — and quickly deleted — this AI-generated ad depicting “criminals for Zohran Mamdani.”

Features a Black man in a keffiyeh shoplifting, an abuser, a trespasser, a trafficker, a drug dealer, and a drunk driver all declaring support for Mamdani.

Education unions at all levels: are you concerned about these developments? You should be!
OpenAI's rapid rush into education has been achieved by habituating users through training programs, institutional lock-ins, strategic marketing partnerships, and third party integrations that together are helping it become infrastructural to teaching and learning. It's going to be hard to get out.

Namecheap and Squarespace are enabling a website that far-right extremists are using to target people they feel have said the wrong things about Charlie Kirk’s death.

If you’re looking for more companies to boycott.
I’m officially scared.

Because of this ONE tweet being afraid of potential reverberations of right wing political violence from this — something many others have said — I’m now the first result on a website called “charliesmurderers.”

This is putting me in genuine danger.
