Tech workers are reporting an "AI Hangover", a feeling like "eating plastic" or a "betrayal of language" when the LLM mirrors back a distorted version of their thoughts.

Rob’s swapped the syllabus for the open road. It’s the magic I’m working toward. ❤️

I have a request, please, friends of Bluesky... I have written an app for Android that helps you find crossword answers. I need 9 people, please, to test it on their devices for a couple of weeks (Google's policy). It will cost you nothing and I will be eternally grateful if you can help. Please!

Behold the creature, spun from night and fire, Upon a clouded fleece of milky white; She rests from twilight's hunt and fierce desire, A captive now to slumber's gentle might.

This tranquil scene, my love, I share with thee; For where thou art, is sweetest rest for me. #caturday

I’m arguing that we can HATE the environmental cost and the bias of AI, while admitting that for some, it’s the only ramp into the building. Here's my essay inspired by Stephen King's The Stand and the Privilege of the Analogue Soul.

The prophecy spoke of a Doppelgänger. A silent watcher made of brick and stud, perched upon the Grey Highlands, waiting to usurp the throne.

But I have claimed the Purple Fortress. Let the construct come. The age of Flesh and Fur is not yet over. #Caturday

Ah, the absurdity of geofencing the truth.

That Canadians watched a US produced investigative report while US citizens were "protected" is a defining moment for modern media

Journalistic integrity = geographic privilege.

Truth is contraband. Wherever you are based, watch this,
I’ve made a copy of the 60 Minutes INSIDE CECOT segment. If Substack takes it down, I’ll put it up on my website. I know there are cleaner copies out there, but I kinda like the punk rock bootlegged version. The link is in my pinned post if you haven’t seen it yet.

The Guardian calls it a "heady mix of hucksterism."

Yeah, I call it a failure to read the room. We are pumping the economy full of vanity metrics and calling it ‘progress’. If the prize is global supremacy, the cost is our collective agency.

Waiting for the safeguards feels long overdue.
'The bullishness of the tech fraternity is a heady mix of old-fashioned hucksterism, plutocratic megalomania and utopian ideology.

Since the prize in that race is global supremacy, there are few incentives for either side to fret about risks, or sign up to international protocols'.

We have reached the event horizon of cognitive dissonance: the 'Prompt Engineer' treating a mad-lib like a proprietary algorithm.

Gatekeeping the syntax '8k, moody lighting, big eyes' as the lost library of Alexandria is delusion that deserves its own gallery.

New research is live.

We analysed the industrial-scale toxicity directed at female athletes, so you don't ruin your own timeline doing it.

Shout out to the DU comms team for the "Comment Nuke" on the hellsite. That we have to lock doors to talk about the weather says everything about the storm. ⛈️
Comments by figures such as Joey Barton could fuel a culture of online hostility towards female athletes, says #research from @mariannhardey.com at our Business School.
