LIDA Data Scientist, Precious-Gift Alele, reflects on her journey and shares 4 ways everyone can make a difference:

✨ “What do you want to be when you grow up?”

For many young girls, the answer could be scientist, engineer, or #data leader - if they’re given the chance to explore early.

When girls are encouraged to follow their curiosity in #STEM, the results ripple far beyond the classroom.

The team also hopes to influence the application of data science methods across other related projects and that models developed as part of the project can be deployed on real-life cases afterwards by KPMG UK..

Our Data Scientists will work with KPMG UK's Cyber Response and Recovery Services team to:

✅ Develop methodologies
✅ Create dashboards and visualisations
✅ Produce thought leadership
✅ Identify findings and lessons learned
✅ Explore potential algorithm development in future cyber security incidents

We’ve joined forces with @kpmguk.bsky.social to advance capabilities in detecting, analysing, and responding to malicious #cyber threats.

#Cybercrime is estimated to cost the UK £27bn per year and cyber incident investigations are typically time-consuming, resource-intensive, and heavily manual.

How good are your AI instructions?

"The difference between a basic prompt and a well-crafted, domain-aware one was significant. It turned a model that struggled with intermediate queries into one that could handle complex SQL generation effectively."

This provides a stronger approach for:

• Studying how diseases spread in real communities
• Testing how different strategies (eg vaccinations) might work
• Understanding why some people get sick and some don’t

Our project with @geolytix.bsky.social simulated disease outbreaks for real-world cause-and-effect using:

• Causal Diagrams – for factors, like age or health conditions, that cause someone to get sick/recover
• Agent-Based Models – computer simulations where individual people move and interact

Simulating how diseases spread in a population

To improve public health (like planning better vaccine strategies), we need data science models that consider all the different interacting factors together, that contribute to infection rates.
