There were trim levels for the Firebird / Camaro with more hosepower (T.A., RS etc), but the base Firebird / Camero LT were pretty pathetic thanks to the gas crisis/emission controls. I now have a (highly restomoded) 1977 Celica that originally had a 2.2L 4-cyl with 96 horsepower! (now has 255hp 😎)
