Today is the feast of St Stephen, considered the church’s first martyr. Rembrandt’s first signed work was this painting of the stoning of St Stephen, painted in 1625 when he was 19. That was a year after he took up painting! He included his self-portrait, right above St Stephen. #skystorians 🗃️ #art
