Many birds with young migrated through Chicago last night.

At least 100 were found dead in downtown Chicago this morning-& it’s only the beginning. Many bird strikes go unreported.

They play an important part in the forest decomposition process, and their shells are a major source of calcium for many animals, especially birds. “BLM touts juniper removal while snow still hides the scars. Invasive grasses haven’t sprouted yet, so the site looks ‘healthy.’ By fall many are bare, weedy and lifeless. Without transparent monitoring, photos mislead more than inform. 4/6
