Old bag & proud Northerner. Married. Remainer - I want to be an EU citizen again. Likes books, knitting, gardening, cooking, dogs, NUFC. Dislikes Tories, Reform, dogma, Trump. Limited ability to cope with idiots. Absolutely no porn / crypto dealers. #FBPE
Gary Neville is rapidly joining @carolvorders.bsky.social in the LilacLiz Pantheon of Arsey National Treasures, whose contribution to political debate is always worth my time...unlike Tin Pot Trump & Putin apologist Fartage, who will say anything to get a favourable BBC headline.

Idiot dog with a sore nose: 4 years on & he still can't:
a) recognise a hedgehog &
b) avoid it.

Sigh!!!

One more trick than Lord Fluffington of the Buns can do. This is his attempt to hypnotise me into giving him food (didn't work).

Barley, the Romanian rescue dog (the fluffy one) & his black lab friend, Dexter
August 26, 2025 at 9:35 AM
My house is full of not quite ready to eat apples as Dexter really likes apples. And he's a big chap & can get at all the low hanging fruit from my trees. Why do I get the demiveg dog who eats all my fruit & veg? He likes beetroot carrots, cabbage, pumpkins, potatoes, even Swiss chard. All raw!

Not really a song as I can't do tunes (& yes, i know the poetry is a bit dubious too).

Ooo. I haven't come across her. Will give her a go. I'm on an LJ Ross binge right now. I've read the Alexander Gregoory series (Imposter, etc). Now on the DCI Ryan series, which are all set on my home turf (I live only a few miles from Holy Island; it is a magical place.)

And, in the case of Barley from Romania, 4 years before he starts to behave like a normal dog. I don't regret a thing...but I wish he had come with a user guide!

Woke up.
Turned on the news.
It appears that Trump & Netanyahu haven't started WW3 yet.
Phew!!!

And in Almost Scotland the sun is shining. I could do without the mole hill but my garden is calling.

Have a wonderful, peaceful day.

Just finished this by @susiedent.com. Genuinely one of the best crime books I have ever read. If you like words, puzzles & jolly clever literary references (explained - & yes, I did need the assistance) this book is a delight. 📚⚡️💙

Happy Wednesday. The sun is shining & my garden in Almost Scotland is bursting into life. Pictured are Bearded Iris Black Prince, Papaver Glory of Livermore & a rose (no name, in the garden when we moved in but at least 50 years old). 🌱

Me: trying to take a picture of the Green Man in my garden...

Have a good weekend everybody.

Thursday 7 August 2025: annual Coldstream Riding to Branxton (site of the battle of Flodden). Photos from 2 years ago. Lots of Ridings in the Borders!

I'm knitting a top down sweater, Low Tide, in a wool / linen mix. It's going OK, although I intend to make it a bit longer than the original specified length. You get a sideways view because I couldn't work out where the rotate button had gone. 🧶

Morning all. I hope Sunday is treating you well. It's sunny here on the Scottish border & the cherry tree - which we inherited; it is enormous - is in full bloom. It will produce fruit but sadly it isn't much good for eating. The birds will stuff themselves silly instead! 🌱

He's called Merlin. He belongs to my daughter & he takes "dumb dog" to hitherto unknown heights. When he isn't looking stupid he's a labrador. Night all.

It's a prime gardening day in almost Scotland. Snakes head fritillary, chionodoxa...oh, & the gin palace is open for business for the first time this year. (Please ignore Lord Fluffington; he refused to move.) 🌱

Women don't usually write about war: two very different memoirs of WW2. Bielenberg writes about life in a fascist state from the rise of Hitler to its disintegration. The Lady deals with the atrocities women suffer & of survival with humour & courage. 📚💙

I have one of those. My house. Right now.

Flying the flag.

Dexter doesn't do shame for fruit & veg. He always eats all of the apples & pears from the lower branches of our trees too, not to mention any windfalls.

Morning Kitty. Sending you a little bit of sunshine. Have a lovely day.

Morning @storm-layne.bsky.social. there was much pruning. Attacking stuff with secateurs is very satisfying! Although I do have another hole to fill in as Barley from Romania is continuing his war on moles. Right now he is just fixated on toast.

They grow like weeds in my garden, but I do love them. #SnowdropSaturday 🌱
