But that's how we've ended up where we are, by saying, well, there's nothing better available so I'll support this, which is neither what's best or what I want, but it's the easiest option.

At some point, we will have to bite the bullet and attempt to take back the reins and correct our course.

..hugely re our expectations of public figures, and that decline definitely has to be stopped, and preferably reversed.

If we keep condoning poor standards, the standards will continue to fall.

If we don't arrest the drop now, then when?

I genuinely hoped Starmer would do better, but here we are.

I fear *not* ousting him signals that those standards are acceptable, and our general downward spiral will continue.

Recently, someone commented to me that what Mandelson resigned in disgrace over in 98 and 01 wouldn't be a blip on the radar now, and they're right. We've let standards fall...

I've seen lots of people pushing for keft wing voters to get together behind Labour, but why?

Parties are elected by votes. Perhaps it's diehard Labour supporters' turn to compromise, and get together behind sn alternative, rather than propping up the 2-party swing and shift to the right.🤷‍♀️

A signal needs to be sent that the electorate are tired of enduring and ignoring incompetence and party before country politics from successive govts.

With the majority they have, if Labour don't push for electoral reform now, when will they?

If we keep supporting poor govts we will only get them.

Starmer won an election and has not, as some claimed he would, shifted left after gaining power, but has continued right.

What is the *point* of a 'Labour' government that enacts Tory policies?

I don't care what colour a rosette is, I care about policies and actions.

I did not.

..keep pretending I'm blindly following Corbyn, which just is not true. I have no intention of voting YP.

I am not willing to accept 'improvements' at the cost of harming vulnerable groups. I will not abandon my principles to prop up a govt harming Palestinians, migrants, trans, disabled etc people.

So-called pragmatism has shifted the UK Overton window to the right. By continually endorsing steps further right, you and others enable and promote that shift. I voted 'pragmatically' for Labour since Blair until the last election and look where we are. No more.

You claim I twist your words but...

Or Wales...🤣😁

Senedd elections are PR.

Supporting Labour whilst they drift further right and we ignore their harms to various vulnerable groups only shifts the UK Overton window further right.

We can't keep ignoring harm and that shift and expect to end up anywhere good.

We have to start demanding better for everyone.
February 10, 2026 at 12:33 PM
I apologise for being antagonistic. I'm just so frustrated about being told that I should support this government by people who claim to be left wing. The Overton window in the UK has shifted right, and will only keep doing so if ppl endorse right/w policies by supporting them. I'm genuinely worried

Whilst being complicit in genocide, making speeches about 'island of strangers' and a 'lost generation' of shirkers, harming trans people, quietly halving the health element of UC for new claimants from April...

Some of us care about vulnerable groups and will not ignore what's happening to them.
