Logically I know I can take these folks at their word and logically I know I pull in enough community value to be worth the assist, and I know that me having better work will just compound my community value, but I’m just so emotionally unfamiliar with the concept that I keep panicking.

Great networking opportunity! Proud of you for being brave! If it helps at all most folks are looking for more friends, especially in adulthood when people realize it’s hard to make friends, but also important to life to have a local network that has your back.
