In today’s no-stress news, I got to see this beautiful new heron who appears to be young/not yet full-grown. I always wonder how they stay so clean amidst the mud and creek water!

Today was a good day to plant a vegetable garden. I’ve never been good at keeping plants alive but have succeeded with a few indoor succulents in the last year, so here’s hoping!

I also learned that while mallards are monogamous, males will sometimes seek out additional female mates, consensually or otherwise, so in this instance, I’m rooting for her. Shifting from low-stress to no-stress nature news, the poppies are out in full force!

In today’s no-stress (low-stress?) nature news, there was a bit of a dust-up between three mallard ducks at the creek.

A couple (a female and a male) was swimming contentedly when a second male dove into the water from the air quickly & aggressively, at which point there was much quacking.
