"Experts Screening Experts: Can Courts Effectively Gatekeep Psychological Assessment Evidence?" by Emily Line, M.S., Tess Neal, PhD, and Elizabeth Mathers, M.S. Study summaries of 3 studies, showing demographic information about the 229 attorneys who participated in the experiment and survey for study 1, the 44 judges who participated in the experiment and survey for study 2, and the 265 forensic psychologists who participated in the survey for study 3. All studies were preregistered on the OSF; all materials, deidentified data, and analysis scripts are available on the OSF Experimental results from the attorney (study 1) and judge (study 2) samples, showing that both attorneys and judges have some capacity to discriminate between higher and lower quality psychological assessment evidence Survey data of results from all three samples showing most attorneys, judges, and forensic mental health experts have not experienced legal challenges to psychological assessment evidence in the real world.
