I survived because personal circumstances meant I had taken a more boring and lower paid job for the proximity of the office to my childcare. A friend survived because although he was quite junior, the role he happened to be doing at the time was very specialised.

And those of us who had jobs on the other side of it were very relieved, and there was a real understanding of how much luck had played a part in whether or not you had survived in the industry.

There was definitely a sense of things being ‘too good to be true’ for quite a while before the bubble actually burst. But there was also a competing atmosphere of maybe this was just how things were now in the new internet world, and that naysayers were fossils of old school business.

Whenever I’m in the presence of celebrity I act so cool that I go full circle back round to weird and awkward.

I’m not. It is of course up to her how she responds and I can’t possibly even imagine what this level of harassment feels like. What I said was that responding to this particular harassment in this way reinforces the idea that being accused of being trans is an insult. It is not.

Sure, but that would be happening regardless due to her position and the age gap with her husband. Choosing to respond to this particular harassment rather than lump it with the rest sends the message that this is the gravest insult.

I’ve rented them for corporate things and it’s always been a substantial deposit (20%+) then remainder of the fee at least 7 days prior. The only exception would be things like food & drink where you might approve additional expenditure in advance if it’s needed, then pay for the extra stuff after.

Therefore it ramps up every time Musk does something particularly awful because they feel more defensive. And it’s even better for the conscience if your mates are saying the same.

The most charitable interpretation is that they’re embarrassed. They know they shouldn’t still be on Twitter but they can’t let it go. They rubbish the alternative so that they can make themselves feel better and have an excuse if they’re challenged.

Good news! Now it seems we have a receptive audience, we need to step up the public health messages about staying safe in the heat and sun. As an immigrant from a hot country, I’m constantly mortified by how people here behave in hot weather.

Me too! I’ve never come across anyone else who had it. Not as bad as when I was pregnant, but still awful.
