The outside world can include email, access to websites, YouTube, etc.
But social media is an enormous privilege and it's used for nefarious purposes by non-criminals every day. It just feels like it's asking for trouble to allow inmates access to social media.

As you fight ICE in your neighborhoods, always look for potentially positive outcomes to counterbalance your anger and despair. For me this continues to be meeting more neighbors, talking to more neighbors, and finding that others close by have also been fighting in ways I was unaware of.

My 82yo FIL called us last night to ask if we're okay bc he saw that Natl Guard troops are being sent in.
We said, "Well, there's a dance party in front of the ICE bldg right now that includes a unicorn and a dinosaur, so we're all good." 😂

That seems like a difference without a distinction, though.

So the DOJ says in court, "We make a beverage using lemons, water and sugar." But then Miller says, "We make lemonade."
I see no legal difference between the two, but I'm also not a lawyer. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Could someone help me understand why Pee Wee German saying this on TV is a huge mistake, when every lawyer for the DOJ is saying essentially the same thing when arguing their cases in court?
"Trump has absolute authority" has been what the DOJ has been saying in court & in Congress since January.

Why are we required to persuade our leaders to do what we elected then to do?
"Please resist fascism." isn't persuasive enough?
Must we hold their hands while we beg them to resist racism & fascism?
Are they less inclined to listen to consultants if we "persuade" better?

THREAD. Across the U.S., a lot of skilled lawyers, many of whom are well meaning, pose a big threat right now to our society. The legal advice the profession is giving to clients is walking us off a fascist cliff. We as lawyers need to shift our thinking.
