An experimental Cinderella as she finds the strength to rise above the contempt of her step-sisters, which haunts her life and art. A story that considers the “impossible task” we’ve all attempted to please others or earn respect - only to realize that ability lies within.

Inspiration for one of Ashensong’s pivotal scenes. A storybook sequence. NO AI. Movement was done frame by frame in Premiere Pro. Loved the discovery and process.

“Ashensong” is my next short film releasing this month (on Patreon first). An experimental take on Cinderella as she finds the strength to rise above the contempt of her step-sisters, which haunts her life and art.

With Wendy Heagy as Cinderella.

Inspired by the current leap year and the surreal concept of an extra day this photo engages the peculiar nature of time.

☀️🎞️Editing “Ms. Omela” - discovering it anew: what to take out, leave in, rearrange, an outtake that was better than the proper take, adding in a new magic realist element, a list of things yet to shoot and record, all to make the story into its most powerful form.

FIRST LOOK - “The Boy Who Cried Wolf” short film.

Inspired by Aesop's fable, our tale holds a darker twist for the boy and the wolves he sees. The narrative is experimental and as it repeats, we go deeper into the story learning more about who the true wolves are in the world.

Photos from my series “Calypso”. The first image, “Calypso Comes to Shore” won the Julia Margaret Cameron Award 24 for non-pro, storytelling category.

I’ve been changing up my color pallet lately in favor of fewer hues per image rather complimenting or contrasting. More to come in “Wolf”.

I was thrilled to be included in Felicity Gee’s book “Magic Realism, World Cinema, and the Avant-Garde”, Routledge, 2021. Even when heading into a project based on a well-known fable I try to find ways to create new metaphors - blending a personal perspective.

Ever wonder what snow in the swamp would look like? This is 5 miles into the Louisiana swamps in the Atchafalaya basin... it's unreal... having lived down there for the first 28 years of my life, we never saw anything like this.

Smashed records.

Photo editing all day. Then scrapped my work and started over at 4pm. Three hours later, had what I wanted. But then made another change. 😄 And maybe one more because I forgot something… Love the process though!
