#31DaysOfGraves day 8 - glass. Arguably the most famous tomb despite its current state, the "Red Lady" (officially the Robertson mortuary chapel) was erected in 1865 for Mary Ann Robertson (1826–1858). The original red glass roof allowed red coloured daylight to flicker on the stone figure inside.

This is the grave of an unknown soldier in the Münster War Cemetery. It is the only one without a name on its headstone. That's what makes it so tragic to me: this poor soul not only had his life taken by a tyrant, but his identity as well.
A close-up of a white marble headstone in a well-kept military cemetery. The stone is inscribed 'A Soldier of the 1939-1945 War' and 'Known Unto God'. In the background, other headstones stand on a green lawn, and a single, bright yellow flower is visible on the left.

Day #6, Gender for #31DaysOfGraves. Margaret J. Hope's gravestone is one of only a handful of women's graves in Warriston that indicates she was anything other than a wife, mother, daughter or sister. Waddie & Co Ltd was an Edinburgh printing trade company. #genderstudies #Edinburgh #womenshistory
