In Arizona election news: Karrin Taylor Robson has dropped out of the governor's race. That leaves U.S. Rep. Andy Biggs and U.S. Rep. David Schweikert in the Republican primary.

Both of Arizona’s senators, @captmarkkelly.bsky.social and @gallego.senate.gov are a “no” on DHS funding.

ICE agents have detained Native Americans in Arizona and Minnesota. Sen. Mark Kelly tells me he’s working with local officials to help tribal members who may not have documents like birth certificates. But even people with documents have been detained.

Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs has vetoed the $1.1 billion tax conformity bill the Republican-led Legislature passed along party lines yesterday. It aligns most of the federal cuts from the One Big Beautiful Bill with AZ’s tax code. My story from yesterday on the bill here: www.abc15.com/news/state/r...

Just call me the Black Widow of Fantasy Hockey. I have so many injuries, you can’t even see them all without scrolling (I also have poor Mackenzie Blackwood)

Salt in the wound for Coyotes fans. NHL fans often criticized the lengths Commissioner Gary Bettman took to keep the failing franchise in Arizona before the abrupt sale in 2024, but the Yotes never got to play in an outdoor game. Now the Mammoth get one less than three years after the sale.

President Trump’s executive order doesn’t legalize marijuana, an Arizona dispensary owner calls this the start of “the post-prohibition era.” The order also creates a Medicare pilot program for CBD, and I talked with a lawyer about what this means for the looming federal ban on hemp-derived products

“This is pure intimidation.” Talked with @gallego.senate.gov today about the Pentagon’s investigation of Sen. Mark Kelly. Gallego spoke with me after a town hall he held with veterans in Casa Grande.

And the storm has reached downtown Phoenix. You can see it in the windows next to the scoreboard

Chase Field has been helpfully showing us the approaching storm. It’s currently the sixth inning, so leaving the game could be challenging

The first Turquoise Alert in Arizona has gone out. This is the new alert system intended for missing Indigenous people. However, this is for a missing child last seen on surveillance video at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport. This child is not Indigenous, as per the alert page:

At tonight’s D-Backs game, they played Coldplay and then Baxter was caught with a St. Louis fan. You just know every pro team in the U.S. is doing this bit

Threads is the saddest social media site. This morning, it sent me a push alert for the “breaking news” that Adam Cole was vacating the TNT title. For a match that occurred Saturday. To a post @allelitewrestling.com made on Saturday before the match.

Arbella Rodriguez Marquez has been in ICE custody at Eloy Detention Center for five months. Her best friend says she’s lost 55 pounds, and advocates say she could die without medical treatment for leukemia.

Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs held a ceremonial signing of the state budget this morning.

#VegasBorn defenseman Alex Pietrangelo is done. He was a huge part of the Golden Knights’ Cup win, and it’s so sad to see his career end like this.

I’m amazed Petro played as well as he did this season — a bilateral femur reconstruction is no joke.

The House is passing the $17.6 billion Senate budget package. House Republican leaders negotiated with Senate leaders and the governor’s office on an agreement. The Senate will need to approve the changes, and they return tomorrow morning

AZ BUDGET WATCH: House lawmakers are back on the floor to work on amendments to bills. They are expected to get to the bills in the Senate budget deal that chamber negotiated with Gov. Katie Hobbs (budget No. 2. Budgets No. 1 and No. 3 were vetoed yesterday)
June 27, 2025 at 12:40 AM
Today in the AZ budget: The Senate just passed Budget No. 1 — the budget plan the House developed on its own and passed June 13.

The latest on the Arizona’s budget chaos: House lawmakers are voting on a bare-bones “continuation budget.” This is the third budget to be voted on by one of the Legislature’s two chambers
June 25, 2025 at 1:19 AM
We’re on budget No. 3 at the Arizona Capitol. The House’s “continuation budget” is the second budget package the chamber has considered.
June 24, 2025 at 5:24 PM
I’m back at the Arizona Capitol, where there’s still a stalemate on the budget. To recap: The Senate passed a budget early Friday morning. A new state budget is needed by July 1. The House speaker says the deal can’t pass the House and is working on a continuation budget.
