“This one time, at bandcamp…” from American Pie was the most quoted line from a movie of my entire life, but young hoes don’t know about that

When they show a clip from Marty Supreme while going through the names of the Best Actor nominees, I hope they show the scene where he’s giving tips on acting to Kay Stone’s castmate in the play rehearsal scene.

I don’t think Wes Anderson is making his movies to get any noms, but i’d like it if he were making movies with big swing needledrops in them again and aiming more for MTV Movie Awards than the Oscars.

Bone Temple was disappointing. Spike hardly spoke or did much of anything, and there was no other clear protag in his place. The plot meandered all the through to the end, and when the credits rolled I was I was stunned, because I didn’t feel like a climax had even happened.

I knew Vin Diesel would be my number one actor because i decided to watch all the fast and the furious movies this summer, but i forgot about my David Lynch mourning period and was surprised and sad again at my no. 1 director

For a band I love so much and with such a manageably sized discography, there sure are a couple Roxy Music albums I haven’t heard.

In my mind, The Knife are so major, like they are on a tier with Joy Division. But young people at work will know and like Björk and Crystal Castles but be very unaware of The Knife. I know we have real problems right now, but it would be nice if culture fixed itself about this issue

Happened across a tiktok made by an account called “Marvel Guy” talking about one INSANE easter egg in PTA’s One Battle After Another……. I can’t shake how stupid it was, but whatever we have to do to make OBAA a box office success i guess

I saw the Lady Gaga Mayhem tour last night, and they need to go ahead and make a Castlevania/Lady Gaga musical while they still have those sets and costumes.

Watched through Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End a lil while back (amazing amazing amazing!), and i’ve just now started getting tiktoks of fan edits in my feed. Every time i hear a snippet of the English dub, I’m aghast at how awful it is. Don’t do that dub!! Go with the sub!!

investigators are probably as stumped as I am trying to answer the question “who even thinks about Charlie Kirk this much”

had a dream I went to see 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple. My sleeping subconscious didn’t conjure up any actual movie scenes so I just remember the seats and the guy’s head in front of me. But i think i’m excited for The Bone Temple. Or they’re testing out ad content for dreaming

shitty thrillers and horror movies on Amazon Prime and other streaming services of the last five years all have bird’s eye view shots of a single car driving on a rural road through wilderness. when you see that shot you know you’re watching hack garbage

Pedro Pascal got big after playing a wild GoT character and has starred in a lot of movies geared towards adults, but I can still only see him as a Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards kind of celeb and not like as a real actor

Being from Mississippi (no longer living there), and seeing assholes respond to news stories like this in condescending ways, has me like Bruce McGill in Michael Mann’s The Insider. “this is the sovereign state of mississippi — WIPE THAT SMIRK OFF YOUR FACE!!!”
bsky.app Bluesky @bsky.app · Aug 22
Unfortunately, Bluesky is unavailable in Mississippi right now, due to a new state law that requires age verification for all users.

While intended for child safety, we think this law poses broader challenges & creates significant barriers that limit free speech & harm smaller platforms like ours.

the news that Criterion Channel is gonna have a bunch of John Woo, Tsui Hark, and Ringo Lam movies soon is very wonderful, but they get added in October, and I will only be watching spooky movies then I’m afraid.

Was not in a hurry to see Eddington given what little I knew about the movie (2020 period piece, covid) and how many people were saying it was not great. But holy shit I loved it, it was a lot less like a messy therapy session like Aster’s other movies, and more like a thrilling genre movie

would love to know how astrology-related businesses might do market research, what demos they split people into. are they like “people with neptune complexes are 5% more likely to purchase synastry chart readings” or “geminis entering their return of saturn were our number 1 new clients last year”
August 21, 2025 at 2:13 PM
almost missed Eddington in theaters but caught a showing tonight. I kept hearing about it being political or about the pandemic, and I wasn’t dying to watch that. But it was absolutely fantastic, what seemed like was going to be annoying at first gradually became hysterical and thrilling

I was at first disappointed with the way the structure of Weapons constantly deflated tensions and obscured the mystery a lil longer before providing all of the very blunt answers to what happened. But I watched the great new Kiyoshi Kurosawa movie, and today I’m still thinking about Weapons anyway
