I couldn't agree more that a lot of growth as a software engineer is all about understanding the root cause. So much of my Grade, JVM and other knowledge came from that.

📢 The androidx.compose.material.icons library is no longer recommended for displaying Material Icons in Compose. We have stopped publishing updates to this library & it has been removed from the latest Material 3 library release, you can still manually reference it if you cannot migrate.

I cannot describe how bad this is for tech companies.

Not the $100K fee on *new* H1Bs, but that their software engineers currently abroad can be turned back (or detained?) at the border with ZERO notice!

Properly tracking Gradle properties in configuration cache is a long awaited feature! No more cc invalidations when running with a different -Pfoo=bar if those properties are read through provider API and read at task execution!

Disney and ABC have pulled Jimmy Kimmel Live! off air “indefinitely” after FCC chairman Brendan Carr threatened to pull the broadcast licenses of any station that aired his show over comments Kimmel made about the man charged with killing Charlie Kirk.

The decision, according to Variety, was made after television giant Nexstar announced that its local ABC affiliates would pre-empt airings of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, just hours after Carr issued that threat. Nexstar is one of the biggest owners of television stations across the country. We’ve reached out to the FCC for comment on what specifically is objectionable from Kimmel’s show and which FCC regulations he may have violated.

I would only note that metalava is a lot more powerful than Binary Compatibility validator, it can tell if your changes are safe, not just that it changed.
